Tags & Organization

As you create more links, keeping them organized becomes crucial. FWURL provides a flexible tagging system and campaign grouping to help you manage your link library effectively.

Using Tags

Tags are keywords or labels you attach to your links. They allow you to categorize links across different campaigns, channels, or content types.

Adding Tags

You can add tags when creating or editing a link:

  1. In the Tags field, start typing a keyword.
  2. If the tag already exists, select it from the dropdown.
  3. If it's a new tag, press Enter to create it.
  4. You can add multiple tags to a single link.

Managing Tags

To manage your tags globally:

  1. Go to DashboardTags (in the sidebar).
  2. Here you can see all your active tags and how many links use them.
  3. You can edit tag names or delete unused tags.

Filtering by Tags

In your Links Dashboard:

  1. Click the Filter button.
  2. Select one or more tags.
  3. The list will update to show only links matching those tags.

Campaigns

Campaigns are a higher-level grouping for your links, specifically designed for marketing initiatives.

Creating a Campaign

  1. Go to DashboardCampaigns.
  2. Click Create Campaign.
  3. Give it a name (e.g., "Summer Sale 2024").

When creating or editing a link, select the Campaign field and choose the appropriate campaign.

Campaign Analytics

The main benefit of using campaigns is aggregated analytics. You can view the performance of the entire campaign rather than just individual links, giving you a better picture of your marketing ROI.

Best Practices for Organization

1. Consistent Naming

Establish a naming convention for your tags and stick to it.

  • Bad: social, Social Media, fb, facebook-post
  • Good: social, email, blog, Q1-2024

2. Tag by Channel

Use tags to identify where the link is shared.

  • twitter
  • linkedin
  • newsletter
  • instagram-bio

3. Tag by Content Type

Identify what the link points to.

  • blog-post
  • product-page
  • webinar
  • ebook

4. Tag by Date/Quarter

Useful for time-bound reporting.

  • 2024
  • Q1
  • january

5. Don't Over-tag

Aim for 3-5 relevant tags per link. Too many tags can clutter your dashboard and make filtering less effective.
